With regrets, it is necessary to cancel the "Gathering of the Guns" that was to be held at the Cobblestone In in Branson, MO this coming September dur to non-participation. They reported having a mere four reservations since we announced it back in January, most likely due to the current economy..  Maybe next year.

On a more positive note, The Association is fielding at least one (maybe two) Rifle Teams to compete in the Rattle Battle Team Competition at Camp Perry on 8  August 2010. We will also be sharing a booth on commercial row with none other than Sadlak Industries, manufacturer of peremium scope mounts and other M14 parts.

We are beginning our transition into changing
our name over to The M14 Rifle Association.
This decision was made to create less confusion
concerning assumptions that our association and the
M14 Firing Line Forum are one in the same.
We will be slow in our transition as there are
a few things that will take some time and red tape.
In the meantime, we will technically still be the
M14 Firing Line Rifle Association, but logos etc
will show the new name.

We appreciate your patience while this transition takes place.

Some question has come up as to why one should join the M14FLRA
when either belonging to or comparing us to other associations.

The main difference between us and other associations is that we will
be promoting the use of the M14 where others are leaning
more towards promoting the AR. (With the exception of the CMP)

The M14FLRA will be putting on steel and wood shoots where the
only rifles allowed will be the M1, M14 and M1 Carbine.
Who else does that? Also we will be certifying instructors specifically
for the M14 (as well as for general firearms) and holding M14 oriented
courses. We will also be having strictly M14 shoots as well as the normal
shoots where one can shoot the AR.

I used to belong to an association here in NY state. They run SAF
schools of which I've attended two of. They were a blast and we shot
the M14. Now that association only allows AR15s at the shoot.

The other thing that we will be doing is annual M14 qualifications.
During a two week period, to be determined, those wishing to participate,
will shoot a specific course shooting the M14 and submitting their scores
in order to receive a qualification card as well as be listed on our
qualification list. The thinking is that when those of us who were  in the
service qualified, we spent one week snapping in or practicing dry firing
exercises, and then the following week live fire exercises. The last day
was qual day and we shot for record. This is much different than how
other organizations do this as they require season long participation in
competition in order to get qualified. While this is great in determining
shooting levels for competitors, we feel that this only serves the
competition minded and leaves those that do not care to compete out
of it. This is more of a personal goal thing, but a good one from the
feedback that I've received. The qualifications wouldn't mean anything
as far as other organizations recognizing it, but, it is a great way for
individuals to set and achieve personal realistic goals. You are not
competing against others, but against one's self.

Hope that helps in explaining why we are to be a unique organization
vs a run of the mill standard organization.

Thanks,  Hawk

We have been made aware that there is still some confusion
as to whether this Association is a stand alone organization or
part of the M14 Firing Line Forum. We would like to ensure you
that the M14FLRA is definitely a stand alone organization and
that while we do sincerely appreciate the

camaraderie of the
TFL membership, we are a separate entity. The M14TFL forum
seemed the most likely place for the announce of our existance
as it has the largest M14 based membership on the internet.

M14TFL has graciously extended to us a small section of their
forum specifically for M14FLRA members to communicate with
one another in discussion form. For that we are surely thankful.

Membership here in the M14FLRA is open to anyone that has an
interst in the M14 type rifle whether traditional or non-traditional.
You do not need to be a member of the M14TFL forum to join.
Of course in order to enjoy the section of their forum that they
have created for us, you would need to register.

We hope that this clears up the issue that has been presented.

Grand Opening of our Association

It pleases me to announce that we are now accepting membership applications.
